Four Corners report into AFL clubs

Lisa wrote in her latest report:
“Sydney chairman Richard Colless joined John Elliott and Eddie McGuire on a footy chat show last week. As the trio debated clubs' contributions to the development of the game up north, Colless lightheartedly flipped the bird at Eddie. He believed his action would be edited out of the program, but it wasn’t. As a result, he fined himself $5000 and suggested the AFL donate the money to charity.”
The chat show Lisa referred to is actually a current affairs program called “Four Corners”, produced by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and which celebrated its 40th birthday last year. The report, titled “For the Good of the Game”, went to air last Monday. It examined the financial state of the 16 AFL clubs and disclosed which ones were in danger. The 45-minute report included interviews with AFL chief executive Wayne Jackson, club presidents Eddie McGuire (Collingwood), John Elliott (Carlton), David Smorgon (Bulldogs), Richard Colless (Sydney), Allen Aylett (North Melbourne), Essendon CEO Peter Jackson and coach Kevin Sheedy, Swans captain Paul Kelly and AFL Players’ Association president Brendon Gale.
