Anyone here watch the 20th anniversary show on TSN the other day? The Sports Network in Canada is 20 years old now and they had a little retrospective on the network, showing clips of their early years. Anyhow, can you bet what came up? Yup they joked about how Australian Rules Football was one of thier staple programs during the early years before they could afford anything else. Bah, how dare they mock it!

Hey Phil, the 25th anniversary show of ESPN did the same sort of thing. The made fun of Aussie Rules, yet that was a staple of the network (because it didn't cost anything to produce). Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show made a big deal of footy on ESPN.
Now they show poker, reality auditions for anchor positions on SportsCenter, etc. Stupid.

Yeah basically TSN is the Canadian version of ESPN, a lot of the programming is very similar (TSN carries lots of the ESPN programming here). They also seem to be showing tons of Poker recently. I can't figure out those programming directors. The funniest thing I saw recently was the "Jump-rope competition". It was sort of hilarious seeing these comentators considering the concept of jumping rope to be a serious sport.

Yes, they mock us. However, ESPN's programming director gave Aussie rules a lot of credit when he was interviewed in the leadup to their anniversary program. So, however much they laugh, we helped make them early on.
