Hi,

As one of a few Aussies on assignment here in Elko, Nevada for a few months and having been here for a couple of months already, We have generated some interest in Aussie Rules especially down the local drinking hole. The problem has been trying to explain the game especially when watching that lack of action game called American football. (A side issue why is called football when all they do is throw the ball). Back to my issue it would be a lot easier if I could get vision of some games and get the local pub to play sort during the busy times. While I have some of my own games back in oz they are all in PAL format and region 4. Does anyone in the AFANA know where I can get some games, especially from the 2004 season in the local format that can be used.

Thanks

Could be because the origins of the game are in rugby, circa 1860. ;)

Oh, I imagine several people here on the BBS have video they can loan you. You can also order anything you want thru our "order video and DVD" link on the home page and have it shipped from Australia. Formats available include NTSC and region free DVD.

Since the games are on at such awkward times in North America I usually set my VCR to tape them while I'm away. I've got a bunch of these tapes of the Toyota Aussie Rules show plus the Grand Final. Essendon vs Kangaroos, Collingwood vs. Richmond, St. Kilda vs. Essendon, and Brisbane Lions vs. Port Adelaide Power. There are probably others here too in this stack of tapes but these are the ones I immediately see. All are NTSC. Everything except for the Grand Final however is an "abbrievated" match (ie cut down to 1 1/2 hours if you are familiar with how games are shown here).
