I wouldn't read anything into it at this time. They've said all along that other sports would remain there until the contracts for coverage of those sports expired. In some cases, that may not be until late 2005.
Also, as discussed in an earlier thread here, by their somewhat convoluted logic, rugby is "evolved" from soccer therefore it's ok. Rugby fans include certain well known high managers at News Corp. Therefore, there is a chance it continues where Australian football does not.
While no one expects they will decide to keep footy at the last minute, you never say never. I just don't believe any fan of our sport should consider that at all likely. We have to proceed as if we have no coverage, because we have no coverage for this season in the US.
