Must have Footy DVD's Tuesday, 8 March 2005, at 8:27 p.m. US Eastern Time

Hello All.

I am looking for recommendations on what are the must have Aussie Rules games on DVD. These would be games you would show newcomers to the sport to get them hooked. I already have "The Comeback -Essendon v. Kangaroos." Any others?

Thanks!

Hi -
I would also highly recommend the 1989 GF betweem Hawthorn and Geelong, the 1996 preliminary final between Essendon and Sydney, the 1999 preliminary final between Carlton and Essendon, and last year's early season match between St. Kilda and Brisbane
I could on, but that should give you a start.

Here is my must have list, some are not games. My collection is all in NTSC format of VHS, I am still in the stone age.

1. 100 years of footy (history of the game tape)
2. Sensational 70's (decade tape)
3. Electrifying 80's (decade tape)
4. The decade that delivered (90's decade tape)
5. 1966 GF (St. Kilda over Collingwood)
6. 1977 GF double pack (North over Collingwood, plus the drawn game)
7. all 4 best of the footy show tapes

Hi Brian -
Yep, forgot about 100 Years, but Idon't have the decade highlights. As I mentioned to the chap looking for DVDs, the list I gave him was just for starters. I could go on.
You're not the only one regarding the format. Most of my stuff is in NTSC also, though most of what I have from last year is on DVD.

Thanks Lisa and Brian!

Keep the ideas coming. I am trying to win converts.

You're welcome. And with apologies to Brian,I could also recommend the 1995 CARL/GEEL GF. It was a bit of a blowout, but it was awesome. :)
Another good game was the 2000 Round 20 (or was it Round 21) ESS/WB game. That's the one where the Doggies upset the Bombers to end their winning streak and the chance to go undefeated for the season. It also features Garry Moorcroft's Mark of The Year

Lisa, Moorcroft's mark of the year was in round 14 2001 (June 6th) at Colonial. I was there in the time keepers box with my mate Don Stock (AFL timekeeper). The mark was on the left of screen (Lockett end, I think). That was the end where Colonial timekeepers were at that time, since been moved to the center of the ground. Is that the game you speak of? Essendon won that one, 20.10.154 to Doggies 11.10.75.
