Vacation Planning for 2006 Monday, 30 May 2005, at 7:01 p.m. US Eastern Time

Hi guys,

It looks like my family is planning on taking a large Family vacation next year and we are strongly considering going to Austrlia (obviously this was my influence ;-)

Since we're probably going to go late next summer of course my plan is to steer the family into perhaps going during "Late september" (I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this). How could we go about getting and arranging a trip with tickets to the Grand Final next year? Is there any suggestions or travel sites anyone here recommends?

Fair warning, it won't be cheap or simple as GF tickets are as prized as Super Bowl tickets and it is increasingly just a corporate event. :-(

However, there are possibilities. One is to buy a GF package thru one of the Australian marketers of same. One I am aware of is: Australian Sports Tours, http://www.astsports.com.au Another is: http://www.melbournesportstours.com.au If you contact AFL Travel they will also be able to sell you something.

You can also e-mail our own travel@afana.com and see if Michele has anything she can refer you to.

Also, there is a travel agency in Calif. supposedly putting together a footy tour and they might also be able to help however they have yet to even confirm the details so I don't know if that will materialize or if they will prove a good source. Should they come thru, we'll have something posted on the AFANA web site.

Would be a trip of a lifetime. If you do find out what tickets cost, please let us all know!

If you can't get tickets, then you can go to any pub or footy club, just for the parties.

Phil,
I have been to Oz five times for the footy. I would recommend AFL Travel for your Australia part of the trip.

www.afltravel.com.au

They have taken care of me in the past for match tickets and motel. I always go during the regular season, but Peter and Ian and their crew should be able to do the best on taking care of you.

I would take care of your flight with a local travel agent. You can go on United or Quantas. I have been on both, but prefer United. I went on Quantas once when it was cheaper than United.
