Reading between the lines here, it appears that someone failed to run the plans to add seats in 3000 seat increments thru the proper channels.

Sadly, this is exactly the sort of problem I wrote about back when I was still doing my blog. It's why the limited traffic and congestion on the central campus of UCLA makes it a bad choice for this event.

Let's hope they get this squared up and more fans can attend.

AFL MATCH & STEVE IRWIN SHOW

Tickets are now SOLD OUT for the AFL Match between the Sydney Swans and North Melbourne Kangaroos.

Steve Irwin Only Tickets are still available on ticketmaster at a cost of $12.00 per ticket

I guess they did not want to go to the expense of adding more seating. This event is pure minor (very low minor) league. Maybe there is a way for people who do not have tickets yet to go to the Steve Irwin show and then watch the football match from outside the venue. It is an intramural field. I doubt there will be a wall, a fence maybe. Rob, have you been to the area around Pauley? Parking should not be an issue. UCLA basketball seats 12,000+ and they use the same parking that will be used for this event. I also check campus events and this is it for Sunday.

The problem, as best as we can tell, is that the fire marshal won't let them add more.

Yes, I am familiar with it. Parking can be had, it's just not cheap. About $8 per day flat rate. If the organizers have proper crowd and traffic control, things could be ok. But we'll wait and see. I'm not sure how they plan to control crowd access from one to the other... could be interesting. You may be able to see something from the "outer" but how much I can't say. Depends on where they have the stands set up.
