I like Indoor Soccer also. A former columnist for the KC Star grew up on a US military base in Germany, and grew up playing soccer, and he refused to call the game soccer -- he called it "Thing-ball". But call it what you will, I've always enjoyed it.

Here's an interesting fact for you. In the MISL's best year (mid-80's), the Kansas City Comets averaged in the neighborhood of 16000 fans per game, in a metropolitan area of about 1.5million. That year, their average attendance was better than that of EVERY team in the NBA -- EVERY ONE!

But the truth is that in the largest metropolitan area in the US, MISL couldn't draw flies with a dead horse. And those attendance numbers were the result of novelty and marketing -- excellent marketing by the MISL and horrible marketing by the NBA. David Stern changed the way the NBA markets itself, and the MISL found that once the novelty had worn off there wasn't enough interest in the game.

I may like the game, but it isn't a great success financially. The Kansas City Attack is one of the most successful teams (on field) in the NPSL, but I don't think they average 5000 a game. And every season it is anybody's guess if every team that starts the season will finish it.

The NPSL survives on diminished expectations. And maybe PIFL (or whatever Bonecrusher calls it) CAN survive the same way. But that still doesn't mean anybody here has the scratch to field a squad.
