Chicago Bars: Finals Broadcast Thursday, 24 August 2000, at 10:16 a.m. US Eastern Time

Anyone out there familiar with any Chicago bars that will be broacasting the Final? I can't get FoxWorldSports, and that is a tape delay anyway. Oh to be sipping a Coopers and seeing the Premiership Final live!

As subscribers to our Updates already know, FOX Sports World has restored GF coverage to a live event. Full details will be in the update being e-mailed out later today. There are two bars hosting GF parties... see our GF party page for more info.

One other note: if FSWLD had not changed their schedule their would be no other alternative. They have exclusive rights in North America at least until the end of this season. So otherwise it would have been Internet or shortwave.

Regards,

Rob

I was watching the weekly English Premier League (soccer) highlight show on Fox Sports World yesterday and at the end of the show they mentioned that the Aussie Rules Football Grand Final will be shown LIVE on FSW at 11:00 pm EST this Friday night. Is this the correct time slot? Unfortunately the FSW website (at www.foxsportsworld.com) has been down for the past few days so I haven't been able to check their schedule.

That is correct. FOX has changed the schedule and the event is now live. The reason for the hour earlier start is that Australia went on Daylight Savings Time last weekend. They did this so the time change wouldn't happen during the Olympics. As a result the time difference is one hour more than usual during the GF. The GF coverage will begin at 11:00 PM EDT.

-Rob

COme on over to Joe's at 940 W. Weed, 1 block south of North Ave. at Sheffield. We are having a GF party there. Give me a call at 773-278-7299 if you have any questions.

Thanks for the responses guys and gal; It looks like I've persuaded a friend with FoxWorldSports to throw a Grand Final party! Now all I have to do is find a Chicagoland liquor store that stocks Coopers pale, sparkling, and stout ale's to make the party a true success. For those of you who have not yet discovered Coopers, my friend from down under turned me on to it, its brewed in Port Adelaide, southern Australia, and could quite possibly be the best I've ever tasted. By all means, if you find it on the shelves of your local bottleshop, give Coopers a try.
