AFANA Announces New Leadership Team

It seems to me like somebody should post this here also:

------------------------------

21 November 2000
For Immediate Release

AFANA Announces New Leadership

Following approval of the shareholders and Board of Directors the Australian Football Association of North America (AFANA) announced today part of the new leadership team that will lead it into next year.

The company appointed Mel Eperthener as Chief Executive Officer of AFANA and Scott Parke as President effective immediately. These appointments follow the decision of founder Rob de Santos to step down from those posts as announced in September. Mr. de Santos remains Chairman of the Board.

The company will announce a new Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer at a later date.

The Board expects the transition to begin immediately and to be completed quickly.

For additional information, Mr. Eperthener may be reached at sales@afana.com.

---------------------------------------

First, let me reiterate what I said when Rob announced that he would be reducing his responsibilities to AFANA, by expressing my sincere appreciation for everything he has done. AFANA would not exist without his effort and devotion.

Though I may have JOKINGLY claimed credit for the idea, the truth is that many of us saw a need but Rob alone stepped forward to act. The clarity of his vision led to the creation of our fine organization. When they build the USCG, I want front row tickets in the de Santos stand.

Second, Mel Eperthener is not exactly a name unknown to those who support the development of footy in the North America. Congratulations on your elevation, Mel, and we all look forward to working with you as AFANA and North American footy take their next steps.

Finally, I would to ask the board to address an item in the press release that may not be completely clear to all members. The reference to "the shareholders" of AFANA may be a bit unsettling. Correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that AFANA is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation? And am I also correct in understanding that "shareholders" represents the equity involvement of those who contributed financially to the creation of AFANA?
