Well, the greatest game of all is coming back strong

Out rated the AFL grandfinal, pulled more viewers in Melbourne then did the AFL in Sydney. Brits actually beat Australia in first Ashes Test.

The Game?????? Rugby League Go MELBOURNE STORM!!!!

Dear "fresus",

While we appreciate a good troll-- this board is for discussion of Aussie rules football only. This policy has been repeatedly posted here. We don't do this because we wish to stifle good debate but because past history shows that this leads to exactly what happened here today... the posting of an offensive and inappropriate message in reply to yours (which I have deleted). Accordingly, further posts regarding soccer or rugby will be deleted.

Regards,

you obviously live in melbourne so i wont have a go at you to much but please open your eyes!!!! well for a start we got more people to the grand final than you could get in a whole season. you should know if you are from melbourne that nobody gives a stuff about your game we only want the real stuff. now what makes AFL better than rugby... well where do i start
- we can get more than 10 people to a game. the nrl get 15,000 people to a game and they are over the moon but the afl get 15,000 to a game and there is outrage. tell me how often do you get over 70,00 to a game? none!!!!!!
- you play in shoe box stadiums that dont even have seats while we play in the greatest stadium in the world, the MCG which i reckon you wouldn't get enough people to the game to even fit around the boundary.
- our game involves SKILL not bashing into other people and turning them upside down and slaming them on their head. we have high marks and long goal while you have head clashes and bum feeling. no wonder why rugby players are all drop kicks.
- for all the girls the men are much nicer. just take a look at anthony koutoufides, dean solomon, shane crawford, shane woewodin, trent croad, ben dixon, paul licuria, ben cousins, david spriggs, simon black, jess sinclar, matthew primus... well i could really go on forever. to see them running around with their sleevless tops and tight short really gets the girls interested and then they become interested in the actual game. rugby aint go nothing on these guys.
- our game is exiting, there is always something going on and the crowd are into it, but at the rugby the supporters sit on the grassy nole while there is nothing interesting on the field, honestly i have tried to watch rugby and it put me to sleep.
- isn't t funny how sydney and brisbane are seen as nrl cities yet the afl average higher crowds yet in melbourne that aint the case. strange!
yes you are an international sport but we like having the game to ourselves casue it is our national game and you cant try and deny that. afl is asscosiated with australia because it is our culture and we are brought up on it. how can you say that rugby is coming back, if anything its going downhill because the afl is slowly suffocating your sport and just you wait till the nrl folds. i feel sorry for all you guys but your gonna have to learn the hard way.

Nikki,

We appreciate your attempts to defend footy ... but the post you replied to was a troll. It was posted only to get a strong response.

Please read the previous post made here by me, the Admin. Further debate on this will simply result in the whole thread being deleted. Let's not throw fuel on the fire. We're not going to convert them and they aren't going to convert us.

Dear Blues fan,
i couldnt agree more with your response to nikki! Im a fanatical AFL supported living in Sydney surrounded by misguided nrl and rugby fans. They are contantly attacking and criticising afl as a game and i am so sick of it. You are right. Im a chick and the guys are so much more attractive in afl. But that istn why i love it. The game requires so much more skill and athletic ability than nrl. Despite the fact that it is not an international game (which i am constantly reminded by rugby fans) it is the best game in the world! I can only hope that one day all the dissilousioned sydneysiders will recognise this and we can enjoy the same publicity adn recognition for the sport as you do in Melbourne.
One day I am going to be coming to the MCG to watch the swans in the GF! (possibly not this season)

Cheers

I think Nikki is right about one thing rugby is BORING, i'm a member of the Fremantle Dockers and that is way better than rugby even if my team loses. i think Carlton will do well this year, Hawthorn arnt doing so well only because Shane Crawford isnt playing
