It is the AFL who may pull the plug, as early as next weekend. Which means no footy on the ABC Radio network, as well as Radio Australia. It will be a tragedy if overseas fans miss out on their only free media coverage and have to pay to hear it.
You are right to say the ABC is upset, because it shows the AFL's discrimination towards the average footy fan who now has to pay to hear and watch almost everything. The new deal with the Nine/Ten/Foxtel consortium is designed to please two particular media barons: Kerry Packer and Rupert Murdoch.
There is nothing much we can do now except praying that the ABC and the AFL could resolve the issue before this Friday night.
