Does anyone know why this is the only game on ESPN2? I do watch on my widescreen TV using ESPN3 from my computer and have enjoyed it so far. But just wounded Y they chose this game for ESPN2 Geelong v Port Adelaide,

Hi shasta,

If your question is "why is this the only game listed on our schedule page?" then the answer is that is all they have confirmed.  When ESPN confirms the remaining matches for 2011, we will list them.  We're in periodic touch with their programming staff and it's a scheduling issue.  They need to confirm a suitable time slot and match it to an available AFL game.  We have a note to this effect on the TV pages but perhaps it could be made more clear.

If your question is "why did they choose this particular match?" then the answer is that it fit their schedule.  It isn't likely the particular merits of the potential match.  There are matches the AFL, ESPN, and AFANA would probably pick instead but they do not necessarily fit available schedule slots.

Unrelated note:  you might want to fix your e-mail address on the My Account pages.  E-mail to you bounces.

On a related note, TSN2 is supposed to broadcast said game ( according to my printed schedule and the Events Calendar on this site ) but TSN2 does not have it on their schedule for tonight/tomorrow morning. I don't get ESPN2 and will miss the game. Any insights?

Thanks,

Hi Alan,

As I noted in my response to your other post, we carry schedules for both the US and Canada.  The ESPN portion is intended for US viewers and the TSN portion for Canadian viewers.

Unfortunately, TSN made a late schedule switch and did not notify either AFANA or the AFL.  The AFL has lodged their concerns with TSN and we will do likewise.  By the time AFANA learned of the switch, it was just hours before the Collingwood v Carlton match was schedule to start and we posted notes on Facebook and Twitter.  Due to the need for sleep, there wasn't time to get the info up here and onto the Google Calendar.  We apologize.

Historically, we have the most accurate schedules for Australian football available anywhere but sometimes networks cross us up, too.  The late change probably means that the match will not be made available via LiveAFL.tv either depriving Canadian viewers of any opportunity to see Geelong vs Port Adelaide this weekend.
