Setanta e-mailed it's subscribers with a notice today making the case for former ITVN subscribers to sign up for NexTV (see our earlier article on NexTV). The notice also mentioned the on-going problems that former ITVN subscribers have had getting their monthly credit card, checking, and debit card payments to the now defunct ITVN stopped -- see this thread. (AFANA agrees with the notice below... call your credit card company or bank and place a fraud report!). We are unable to excerpt the text of the Setanta e-mail because for reasons unfathomable to AFANA, the text is available solely embedded into an image, worse it is white text on a black background in a small font. (Dumb!) Here is the notice they sent out:
After years of frustration, things are about to get a lot better
for viewers of AFL video online beginning July 3rd. A new service called Aussie Sport TV is coming online and will offer AFL video in flash format (similar to YouTube and other sites). This will replace the existing video offerings of Telstra's Bigpond service, including for afl.com.au subscribers. Even better, some of that video will be available here on AFANA.com. We will have more details on AFANA's part of this very shortly. Please note: the service will not be live until July 3rd. If you are not already a subscriber to afl.com.au you can subscribe to this new service at this link: Aussie Sport TV. (Please use this link only as subscriptions through this link generate commissions for AFANA!). If you already are a subscriber to afl.com.au, you are subscribed to this new service automatically at no additional charge! Today AFL web site subscribers may have received the following notice:
Dockers see off 'Roos, show signs of life
True to the words of their theme song, the Fremantle Dockers conquered the psychological hoodoo that has haunted them for the past six weeks and gave the North Melbourne Kangaroos the “old heave-ho” at Subiaco Oval on Saturday. Their 53 point thrashing of the Kangaroos was their best performance of the season so far and although it may not be enough to silence some hometown critics, it has breathed life into a club which was on the verge of imploding.

Guilty or Not Guilty?
Adam Simpson (NM), striking Fremantle's Ryan Crowley: assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points), equaling five points, a Level Two offense, 125 demerits and a one game suspension.
Star of the Oval to shine in the Melbourne front office
Former club champion Jim Stynes was appointed the new Melbourne chairman after the resignation of Paul Gardner, who announced last week that he would step aside. Seven other directors, including Beverley O'Connor, also stepped down.
We have a new set of match photos posted from the Collingwood v Carlton match, Round 12, 2008, in our gallery. Here are a few samples of the great photos taken by our photojournalists in Melbourne:

A Round of Surprises
Both teams had plenty to play for in this match as both try to lift themselves from the nether regions of the bottom eight. The spirits, minds and bodies were certainly willing in the opening stages of the game, but the skills fell a bit short with several glaring errors before the first goal.
New Melbourne Chairman caps long climb up the ladder
As an eighteen year old Dubliner, Jim Stynes arrived in Australia to play AFL footy for the first time. He was a Gaelic footballer with the Ballyboden Club, and answered a 1984 Irish newspaper advertisement, looking for 'talented Gaelic footballers’
