AFANA Members Tipping Contest Weekly Update - Round 20

Greetings AFANA Tipsters,

This is the weekly update on the AFANA Members Tipping Competition for Round 20.

Round 20 saw many members with better scores for the week, however another spate of unexpected results on Saturday stopped anyone from excelling. Only three, four and four members correctly tipped Geelong, Bulldogs and Hawthorn, respectively.

Bryan and Tricia (who is out of the country!) managed the best results for the week, both getting six winners. Congrats to you both. Seven more members tipped 5 winners correctly.  No bonus points this week.

AFANA Members Tipping Contest Weekly Update - Round 19

Greetings AFANA Tipsters,

This is the weekly update on the AFANA Members Tipping Competition for Round 19.

Round 19 was another pretty unpleasant round for most members. A whole spate of upsets caught most of us off guard. Nigel was the only member to tip  Essendon's shock win over Collingwood. Nigel picks up a bonus point for that - Congrats! For another week, not a single member tipped a given winner - Port Adelaide in  their win over the Bulldogs. Also, only three members (Chris, Bryan and Fred)  were correct with Fremantle over Adelaide.

As a result, the best scores for the round were 5 out of eight, which was achieved by Nigel, Bryan and Karl. Nigel's bonus point elevated him to 6 points for the week. 4 or 3 winners was more the norm for the rest of us.

AFANA Members Tipping Contest Weekly Update - Round 18

Greetings AFANA Tipsters,

This is the weekly update on the AFANA Members Tipping Competition for Round 18. Again, I apologize for my tardiness with this update. With a job interview yesterday and the house purchase closing tomorrow, I'm doing my best! Please bear with me through the next few weeks.

Round 18 got off to a pretty ugly start for most members. Only three members (Lisa, Rob and Bryan) correctly tipped West Coast for their win over St Kilda. The next day produced another winner tipped by zero members - Carlton's upset over Melbourne. On Sunday, Bryan was the only member who correctly tipped Geelong for their win over Brisbane. Bryan picks up a bonus point for that effort - congrats!

AFANA Members Tipping Contest Weekly Update - Round 17

Greetings AFANA Tipsters,

This is the weekly update on the AFANA Members Tipping Competition for Round 17.

Round 17 saw a wider spread in members tips than we've seen for some time, and the end result was middle-of-the-road scores for most members. Fred and Tricia both managed six correct tips for the week, and are the best performers of  Round 17. Congrats. Behind them, eight other members came in with 5 winners for the week.

Such uniform results made for little change at the top of the overall standings. Gerry is starting to look very safe on top, with a lead of 5 points with 5 weeks left in the season. Rob remains in second, with Nigel one point back in third, and myself another point back in fourth. Four other members are within 5 points of me. Remember that chairman Rob is ineligible for prizes, so second and possible third-place prizes may go further down the standings.  We hope to announce the prizes soon.

AFANA Members Tipping Contest Weekly Update - Round 16

Greetings AFANA Tipsters,

This is the weekly update on the AFANA Members Tipping Competition for Round 16.

Round 16 was another good week for most members, with a high success rate of tipping in each game. All those of us who picked the Bombers to end their 14 game losing streak against Carlton were helped out when Carlton stormed back from behind, but the game ended in a draw. So, everyone gets one point for that result. Geelong was the only "upset" result which was tipped by only three members to defeat the Bulldogs.

As a result, there was a lot of high scores, with Gerry, Rob, Brody and Karl all pulling in seven correct tips, including the draw. Congrats, guys. Four more  members had six correct tips.

AFANA Members Tipping Contest Weekly Update - Round 14/15

Greetings AFANA Tipsters,

This is the weekly update on the AFANA Members Tipping Competition for Round 15. Indeed, its a long one this week, as we have Round 14 tipping results as well.

Our members tips seem to be showing less diversity than before, but a few upsets in each round continue to surprise. For the first time I can recall since taking over this job, not a single member tipped the Kangaroos win over Bulldogs in round 14, while only one member, Pat, picked Richmond's win over Port. Pat picks up a bonus point for that. In Round 15, Fremantle and Brisbane provided the surprises, however 3 and 4 members tipped each of them, respectively.

AFANA Members Tipping Competition - Round 12 Update

Greetings AFANA Tipsters,

This is the weekly update on the AFANA Members Tipping Competition for Round 12.

Back after a week off from the report, and unfortunately the news is not that great.  Despite having a greater spread in tips in some of the games this week, there were 3 crucial upsets that caught most tipsters off guard.  Only 3 members picked Geelong and Port Adelaide for their wins, while only Nigel and Greg correctly tipped the Hawks. Congrats guys.

Those upsets meants pretty low scores for the week. Bryan and Tricia were the top tipsters of the week, both picking up 5 winners. Perversely, those who forgot to send in their tips also scored 5 for the week! Following them was bunch with 4 winners - Nigel, Chris, Pat, Paul and Karl.
