AFANA, a fan based promotional organization for Australian football in the USA and Canada, is seeking an Assistant Editor for the web site afana.com.  Interested candidates should have working experience as a journalist and education commensurate with the position.  Editorial experience preferred.  Applicants should be willing to assume the role of editor-in-chief at a future date.  The position is a volunteer role and does not provide compensation at this time.  Recruitment and supervision of journalists of varied experience will be required and done via the web on a remote basis.  The initial commitment will be for 2 years and may be extended by mutual consent.  Familiarity with Australian football preferred but not necessary.   Knowledge of web technologies and languages are a plus.  Time commitments vary seasonally but may require 10+ hours per week at peak times of the year; less at other times.  Candidates should be comfortable managing in a “virtual office” environment.  Candidates must have been born in the USA or Canada.  Contact applications@afana.com for instructions on forwarding your resume / CV and cover letter to the selection committee.
