Any Parties planned for the GF in Miami?

Hi,

 

Does anyone know of parties (or just coverege in a bar) in Miami for the grand final?  we'll be coming up from brazil, and miami is closer than New York.

The Playwright, 1265 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, (305) 604 2558, is reportedly showing the game. AFANA has not confirmed this with the bar or any hosts. If someone there can send us an official notice, we can post it to our lists.

Finding a party

Hi GoFreo, thanks for stopping by.

As of this moment, we have not received any GF party announcements for Miami.  Unfortunately, in the case of Miami, I'm not terribly optimistic we will in that we haven't had one from Miami in many years.  That said, we get announcements right up to the last few hours before the Grand Final so keep checking our listings page.   We get about half of all announcements in the last 72 hrs.  (Yea, you'd think that party planners would get it done sooner and want the word out but that never seems to happen!)

If you need to find a pub that might be able to get the GF for you, start with the Setanta Venue Finder.  You can also try the Miami consulate of Australia and see what they might know:

Beyond that, posting a notice here was your next best option and you've done that.  Hang in there.

GF party in Miami

Hey GoFreo,

Not many postings for Miami but Ft Lauderdale is just up the road(comparitively) - having been involved in footy clubs in the US for a few years now, I would recommend supporting the local clubs in the interest of furthering footy in the US - plus theres nothing like seeing the faces of Americans when they hear a chook raffle being announced......

Americans and "chook raffle"

It's my experience that American fans are very knowledgable about the sport and we learn the Aussie terms quickly.   Chook raffle is an odd one though and my guess is that Americans who don't know it yet just haven't been around the sport very long. 

Support AFANA, too.  We do much more than just produce this web site and promote the sport for fans on a national basis across the US and Canada.
