AFL Preview Round 23
Last week 5/8 = 128/171 (74.9%)
Yes it was a bad decision to pick Fremantle last week against North and perhaps the Tiger winning form should have been given more credit than to expect a fairytale game from the Demons although the win was just a few points. The Sydney win was a little unexpected but possible so a score of 7 would have been what most got last week. Consider yourself led astray okay if you followed the preview. This week we have the penultimate round and there are some interesting games with none more important than the North Melbourne versus St Kilda game. Simply put, North has to win. A win by the Roos will generate interest in the final round with the Saints, the Swans and North all in line for a finals position.
As the footy finals approach I will miss sitting in front of the box with a meat pie and watching some good footy. And if the Magpies win back to back I will be scrambling desperately to stream the game or find a replay somewhere online. Good luck in the tipping this week.
Some poetic licence this week readers.
Fremantle V Collingwood at Paterson Stadium Subiaco Friday Night
Pavlich having surgery to mend an injured hip
The Pies to board the plane and make that western trip
Injuries to Freo, what a bloody shame
But Harvey reckons that they can win the game!?
With reality, the experts say, Freo ain’t in touch
It’s not a matter of will the Pies, it’s a case of just how much!

Hawthorn V Western Bulldogs at the MCG Saturday
Rocket got the rocket, Hall retired as well
Hahn and Hudson also quit and rung the final bell.
The Hawks are looking good to any opposition
Hoping that a premiership is a reasonable proposition.
Franklin for the Coleman, Hawthorn made top 4
Odds they’ll beat the Bulldogs and kick a bigger score!

Geelong V Sydney at Skilled Saturday
The game will be at Skilled, a difficult venue
For opposition teams to win, the stats will say that too.
Courageous Swans, they’ve done so well, playing really great
And need to win this one or next to stay in final 8,
But Geelong has only lost 2 games, just 2 throughout the season
Justifies our winning tip, do we need another reason?

St Kilda V North Melbourne at Etihad Saturday night
St Kilda, last year’s runners-up, play North at Etihad
A win will make them happy. A loss will make them sad.
For North to play in finals, it’s a game they have to win
A loss will end all hope, their season in the bin.
A draw is not an option, one has to lose, a shame
The tip is North to beat the Saints in a desperate game

Brisbane Lions V West Coast Eagles at the Gabba Saturday night
Eagles travel to the Gabba to play the Brisbane team
West Coast last year’s wooden spoon, this year an unreal dream!
Sitting 4th with 15 wins, even dream of premiership
So they better beat the Lions and not let that great dream slip.
Expect a decent battle, Brisbane won’t give in
But Eagles should prevail, the tip’s a West Coast win.

Adelaide V Richmond at AAMI Sunday
Both teams in steady form Crows winning 3 from 4,
Almost doubling the wins they had in 18 games before!
The Tigers have had back to back so winning form okay.
We select the Crows this time, the home team on the day.
Adelaide by 4
Melbourne V Gold Coast Suns at the MCG Sunday
Untidy form by both these teams losing their last 5 games!
Understand that for the Suns, but the Demons had big names.
Maybe Suns can notch a win, take their wins to 4
They only have to play much harder, just beat Melbourne’s score!
But surely Melbourne won’t succumb to the new team in the comp
Play with pride, keep Jim happy, win it in a romp!

Essendon V Port Adelaide at Etihad Sunday
There’s been a Power failure, the lights are out at Port
The way they have been thrashed each week, folks it isn’t sport?
The Bombers have their injuries, lots of players out
Still, Essendon are good enough, but don’t expect a rout.
