AFL Finals
Week 1
About coaching and loyalty!
Lou Richards has just said it and I will say it too
That it’s a bloody tragedy if Malthouse coached the Blues.
Once you wear the Magpie colours no other jumper’s right
Everything you see from then is simply black and white!
Where the hell’s tradition gone? The one stop football club?
Always having drinks with mates at the same old pub?
Political correctness has taken us by storm
Acknowledging minorities is now the bloody norm!
Players changing teams and no-one says a word
Ex-team mates even shake their hand, I tell you it’s absurd!
Mick took Collingwood to heights , supporters filled with glee
They even won a premiership, beautiful to see!
The time he spent in black and white of that he made the most
It was easy to forget the fact he once coached at West Coast!!
Carlton is the enemy and regardless of Mick’s schemin’,
Helping Blues to win the premiership? They must be bloody dreamin’!
Hawthorn V Collingwood at the MCG Friday night
The Pies struggled to make it into the top 4 this season mainly due to a dysfunctional forward set up consisting of 2 out of form forwards – Cloke and Dawes. The opposite applies to the Hawks who have a host of options up forward even in the absence of Buddy. Collingwood will have to play its best ever game of the year to win this and earn that week’s rest. We all know finals are different to home and away so a Magpie win is possible. Hawthorn will have to choke. This is a tip I hope is wrong.

Adelaide V Sydney at AAMI Saturday
The winner of this game is certainly going to be hard to pick as Sydney’s winning form disappeared when playing the top sides. The Crows played sides below them enabling them to pinch 2nd spot on the ladder and get this home final. A win by either team also gets them a home prelim final so expect no ‘beg pardons’ as these two teams go hard for the ball. Home ground advantage might be worth something but won’t stop Sydney winning the game.

Geelong V Fremantle at the MCG Saturday
How can I make a case for Fremantle? I think the remaining teams in the finals would breathe a sigh of relief if the Cats were knocked out by the Dockers but it’s just difficult to see that happening. The loss of McPharlin for Freo is a big blow as it would have been his job to look after Hawkins. There is just too much finals experience in the Geelong line up to think that they will lose this against Fremantle.

West Coast V North Melbourne at Paterson Sunday
North’s final position and the fact that they have ended up playing West Coast in Perth is the fruition of their worst nightmare for the finals. It’s not easy for any team to win here against the Eagles and they will be a bit angry at losing their position in the top 4. It should be a good game and North has the ability to win but sensibility says stick with what you know will happen.
