During the trade period, there were several deals involving three clubs exchanging draft selections which they acquired in trades with other clubs as well as player movement. Below are the deals involving the players trade.

A three club deal was done in which Collingwood, North Melbourne and Brisbane traded players and draft selections. The final outcome saw Brisbane's James Aish move to Collingwood and North's Ryan Bastinac move to Brisbane. Collingwood traded their round two selection (currently number 26) and 2016 on-traded round two selection to the Brisbane Lions for Aish. Bastinac played 121 games while Aish played 32 games.

Another three way exchange of players and draft picks involved Sydney, St Kilda and Essendon. The outcome was Sydney's Craig Bird going to Essendon and Jake Carlisle going to St Kilda. Bird played 137 games with the Swans. Shortly after the deal for Carlisle was completed, a photo appeared on social media and made its way onto a Melbourne news broadcast. It shows Carlisle ingesting what appears to be an illicit substance while on vacation in Las Vegas. He has since met with St Kilda officials and admitted and apologized for his "inappropriate behavior" and "poor judgment". With the support of the AFL and the AFLPA, Carlisle's new contract was modified by the Saints. He has been suspended for the first two games of the 2016 season and now has one strike against his name under the AFL Drug code.

A final three club deal for players and draft picks involved Melbourne, Port Adelaide and Collingwood. Demon Jimmy Toumpas returns home to South Australia, joining Port Adelaide. Demon Jeremy Howe requested a move to Collingwood and he is now a Magpie. Collingwood's Ben Kennedy joins the Melbourne Demons. Toumpas. originally from SA, played 27 games in three seasons with the Demons. Howe, who requested a trade to Collingwood, played 100 games.
