Adelaide got off to a flying start in Round One against the Gold Coast and finished the day with a 69 point victory to capture their first points for the 2012 season. The young Suns were on the back foot right from the start with Crows’ forwards Kurt Tippett and Taylor Walker both effective in the first quarter, setting up a seven goals eight behinds score line for a 31 point lead at the first break. read more »

IS SANDERSON THE SAVIOUR?
There is a feeling around the Crows' camp that after a disappointing 2011 season the future is looking bright. Brenton Sanderson has left Geelong to return to the club where his AFL career started and take over as the new coach. He has made it very clear in his short tenure thus far that he is looking for a stronger, more physical Adelaide outfit and has incorporated a range of new training techniques (boxing included) to help him mold his new squad. read more »
Former Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos, whose wife is American, was in California last summer. While there, he conducted a footy clinic. Among the attendees was Alex Starling, a talented college basketball player who has also played American football. In August, Starling spent three weeks in Australia for more testing and impressed Sydney Coach John Longmire, development manager Stuart Maxfield and head of player personnel Kinnear Beatson. So impressed is the club that it has signed Starling under the AFL's International Scholarship plan. read more »
When the bottom team travels to play a team sitting in seventh position on its home turf it is generally a recipe for disaster. The Gold Coast Suns are a developing team with flashes of brilliance and two wins so far in their first season. The Fremantle Dockers wanted to celebrate the occasion of Captain Matthew Pavlich’s 250th game. “Pav” is acknowledged by many as the greatest player in the history of the Fremantle Football Club. Weather conditions were blustery, cold and wet – a rare combination in Perth, but perfect for Aussie Rules football. read more »

Collingwood's chances of winning consecutive Premierships have been boosted by the 2011 AFL schedule. The 2010 Premiers have been given 18 games in Melbourne next year, with 14 at the MCG, and do not travel outside Victoria until Round 14. read more »
