Port Adelaide traveled west to take on the in-form West Coast Eagles on a rare rainy day in Perth. Of late the Power have been anything but, looking unlikely to win a kick in a stampede. The Eagles had already trounced Port once this season in Round 2, but Port generally play well at Patersons Stadium and in Round 13, they gave the home side a scare or two. read more »

The match day report against Brisbane's Brent Staker for striking Geelong's Darren Milburn was assessed by the MRP. The panel ruled that Staker's initial contact during an attempted tackle was to Milburn's back and his hand was open at all times. They therefore ruled that it was not a striking motion and dismissed the charge. read more »

Over the last few seasons St Kilda has been a team that you could bank on to win just about every game they played. This season, with the loss of their key goal kicker Nick Riewoldt, they have been shaky, losing three out of eight games. The West Coast Eagles have not fared much better but they were coming off two wins in a row and playing at their home ground in front of 38,000 faithful fans. The bookmakers had the game evenly balanced and there was an air of belief in Perth that the Eagles could knock the Saints down a peg or two. read more »
Brendan Fevola (BRIS) kicked 3 goals in the Round Seven match against Fremantle. He needs one more goal to bring up his 600th career goal which will make him the 27th player in league history to reach that mark. If he manages 83 goals for the season, he will be 20th on the AFL's all-time goal list, just ahead of South Melbourne's (now Sydney Swans) Bob Pratt (681 career goals 1930-39 and 1946) and just behind Collingwood great Dick Lee (1906-1922, 707 goals). read more »
TRIBUNAL
Charges Laid:
James McDonald (MELB), striking North Melbourne's Andrew Swallow: assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point), equaling five activation points, a Level Two offense, 125 demerits, and a one game suspension. His five year good record reduces the penalty 25% to 93.75 demerits. He accepted, reducing the penalty a further 25% to 70.31 demerits. As a result, he comes away with a reprimand with the demerits held over toward his future record. read more »
How quickly a team's fortunes can change in AFL football. Accused of tanking their season only four weeks ago, the West Coast Eagles have put together two solid wins and are still a mathematical possibility to make the Final Eight. As slim a chance as that Finals appearance may be, their improved form is unarguable. read more »
Rick Browner reporting for AFANA from Subiaco Oval
In 2008 West Coast won just four games to finish second last on the Premiership table, their worst finish under coach John Worsfold. A home crowd of nearly 38,000 people at the oval once known as Fortress Subiaco had high expectations that the Eagles of old would return to play. The previous weekend the Eagles had a cracking start against Brisbane only to be over-run by nine points in the last quarter. Port Adelaide Power travelled west to Subiaco, where they have an outstanding record, with one win under their belt and their eyes on another. read more »
