Adelaide got off to a flying start in Round One against the Gold Coast and finished the day with a 69 point victory to capture their first points for the 2012 season. The young Suns were on the back foot right from the start with Crows’ forwards Kurt Tippett and Taylor Walker both effective in the first quarter, setting up a seven goals eight behinds score line for a 31 point lead at the first break. read more »
A California high school football punter could go down in history as the youngest ever international Australian Rules football talent to be discovered. Brandon Heicklen, 14, has been a junior football star since the age of eight, two years after he first began learning through a junior kicking camp. The Gold Coast Suns are a developing team with flashes of brilliance and two wins so far in their first season. The Fremantle Dockers wanted to celebrate the occasion of Captain Matthew Pavlich’s 250th game. “Pav” is acknowledged by many as the greatest player in the history of the Fremantle Football Club. During the week preceding the Preliminary Final, Mark Thompson uncharacteristically focused on Collingwood in a rare display of overt mind games. Mick Malthouse let the Collingwood players do the talking in the media to refute claims of 'hating' Geelong.
