Round 16 did have some exciting games. I didn't do so well in my tipping, but it was exciting. By the end of Saturday's games I was 1-4. However, my selected teams swept the fields on Sunday and I finished the weekend at 4-4. Maybe I should say, " By the end of the weekend I was done." because I know I had a fork sticking out of my back.
The Competitions: As it turns out I was fortunate this week. Five (5) fellow tippers in two competitions (14 people) had a 1-7 result! If they hadn't tipped at all the default reward is 3 points.) Had one just tipped only the home teams they would have had a sterling 7-1 result. It was a rough week. The winners in both competitions were 5-3 (4 with that score.)
The Winners: In the end, I decided to stick with the Swans over the Blues, with happy results. As it turns out, the Swans were the only Away Team to win in the round. The Lions did what was expected by most everyone and beat the Eagles. And the two bottom feeders Port Adelaide and Fremantle won their games. The Adelaide Crows have an issue right now, and Coach Craig and his staff have a challenge if they are to get back into the top 8. My son just sent me the 'YouTube - The Adelaide Crows Downfall' which was amusing, but not for tender ears or sensitive skin.
The Losers: I was open-jawed to see St. Kilda beat Hawthorn 30 points; but perhaps the Hawks were looking ahead to Round 17 when they play the Cats at the MCG. And the Cats beating up on the Doggies by 61 points. (And I picked the Doggies!? What was I thinking?) Maybe the Roos are back in form beating the Magpies. On the Tigers v Bombers, I just went with the wrong team. Apparently Richardson was better than initially reported. Both teams are now 4-1 in their last 5 games.
Round 17 is next. With a lot of luck, perhaps I'll improve on Round 16's score. It does look a bit easier, but then, in the 150th year of the AFL, no week is easy.
