I am so excited about this! Ever since the AFL's internet video system devolved into unreliable uselessness this year, I've been wondering how to keep up with footy. I considered ITVN, but I really didn't want to have another company to deal with.
Heck - this might finally push me into getting a DVR of some kind for next season! As there's only a few rounds left of the regular season before we get into the finals, I think I'll just struggle along with videotape for the time being.
I may well go to a GF party - just for the chance to hang out with other people who understand the game - but the idea that even if I don't I'll be able to see the game live at home is wonderful!
I've emailed Setanta thanking them for their efforts that resulted in DISH carrying their channel and telling them I will be subscribing soon, around the time the free preview ends. I also plan to inform DISH when I subscribe how important this channel is to me - and to encourage them to keep it, I am considering retaining my subscription through the AFL off-season.
And what timing that this should happen just as the Lions manage to claw their way back into the Top 8!
