AFL Weekly Preview Round 14 2007

by John Loffler

PREVIEW ROUND 14

(Last week 5 from 8 total 60 from 104 =57.8%)

Tipsters, this will be a very short but hopefully confidence – inspiring preview this week. Due to commitments other than football, and I apologise profusely for allowing to be distracted by something as insignificant as WORK, and the fact that it is already after 11.00pm in Perth, my addled brain is not functioning cohesively enough to regale you with tall tales but true from the legendary past or with footy news that I am sure you have all read and personally interpreted in your own quaint way. This week we have the Heritage round

Fevola Told Shape Up Or Ship Out

by Lisa Albergo reporting for AFANA from Chicago

Brendon Fevola was suspended by the club last week for his poor performance against the Dockers. The club told him to go away and think about his football future and how he could improve as a team player. In last week's game, he kicked only one goal and gave away two successive 50 meter (55 yards) penalties.

Didak's Wild Ride With Killer

by Lisa Albergo reporting for AFANA from Chicago

Alan Didak has been caught up in another unsavory incident due to his association with a member of the Hell's Angels motorcycle gang just days before the biker went on a shooting spree in downtown Melbourne in mid-June. Three people were shot, one fatally.

Didak admitted to a chance meeting with biker Christopher Hudson, who had purchased a Collingwood membership, at a strip club in the notorious King Street red district. Didak was at the club several hours after the Magpies' Queen's Birthday game against Melbourne.

Round 14 Heritage Round

by Lisa Albergo reporting for AFANA from Chicago

This week's round, designated as the Heritage Round, pays homage to the 1970s. The decade, like all decades of footy, had some memorable moments but also saw a number of new developments to push the game's evolution. The decade saw the first live telecast of the Brownlow Medal count and the introduction of the interchange bench.

Freo Thrash Horrific Blues

Scott Lockhart reporting for AFANA from Subiaco Oval, Perth.

A sparkling return to form by Fremantle has seen them crush a disappointing Carlton side by 77 points at Subiaco Oval on Saturday.

In a performance unseen since the final rounds of 2006, the Dockers forward line looked lethal while its midfield was clinical after half time. Carlton had no answer to the consistent run of Fremantle, constantly letting their opponents roam free.  Successfully returning from a six week club-imposed suspension for misconduct, Jeff Farmer kicked four goals and was sparkling in a good team performance by Fremantle.
