Round 20
Meanwhile Back at the AFL: Well the Dane Swan incident has been grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons for Collingwood supporters. But team rules must be adhered to for the sake of discipline and it’s refreshing to see that the individual is not bigger than the team.

Round 18
Not sure where the $1million dollar deal for Cloke is now but Collingwood fans are starting to think he should take it and go. There hasn’t been a lot of earth shattering AFL news so it’s the usual who is coming back from injury, who has been suspended, who has re –signed with their clubs and so on.

Round 17
The main AFL news item seemed to centre around Chris Judd and his 4 week suspension for his ‘chicken wing’ tackle on Adams, a North Melbourne player, last week. Do you want fries with that Chris?

Round 16
Meanwhile back at the AFL: Round 15 generated quite a bit of work for the MRP – Match Review Panel. Wellingham had the book thrown at him and will miss 3 weeks and a couple of Eagles also copped suspensions. Players coming back from injury for some teams and as we head to the latter part of the season the race for the 8 is hotting up. I can’t believe we are so advanced through another season.

Round 15
Should a guy lose his job as an AFL footballer because of a sleeping pill? Is there more to the story than we read? And will Ratten lose his job at Carlton? A couple of injuries to key players haven’t helped his prediction of a top 4 finish which definitely won’t happen.

Round 14
There didn’t seem to be a lot of news out of the AFL this week although I read a good piece about mid year reports on all the teams and where they are at this stage of the season and what they need to do to make the finals in some cases, make the top four or simply improve.

Round 13
It was interesting to read that Denis Pagan has become a real estate agent selling houses and land after leaving the AFL behind. That puts a new slant on the expression “Pagan’s Paddock” that was in use when he coached North Melbourne.

Round 11
I was reading the article by Mick Malthouse that he wrote about Gary Ablett who had a record-equalling 53 possessions in the game against Collingwood last week but regardless of his possessions the team still lost by almost 100 points.

Round 10
Not a lot to report on apart from the AFL warning 11 would-be punters to stop betting on games. As time goes on I feel this will be harder than pushing water uphill. In a slow news week I see that Akermanis got his name in the papers again and teams continue to scramble to re-sign their better players.
