"We seek to support fans and further the exposure of the most exciting game in the world, Australian Football, in North America."

(6/20/24) Watch this site! We've introduced a new logo and color schemes, but the very BIG news is coming soon! (6/20/24) Note that some matches in each round may start early or late and we will update those times as soon as we know them, which may be the day of the match. Schedules are updated now as far out as we know them for all networks including July. Star+ (Latin America) occasionally does not carry every match each round this year but for most rounds every match is carried. (Star+ [América Latina] ocasionalmente no lleva cada juego en cada ronda este año, pero para la mayoría de las rondas se transmiten todos los juegos.) We'll post further news and updates all season long. At this time we do not expect any major changes to the coverage in 2024 on Fox Sports US or TSN.

AFANA Needs Your Support! Fundraising Campaign Launched!

Our new logo!

Over 28 years ago, three men had an idea for a fan-based organization to spread the word about Aussie rules in North America and improve TV coverage. Much has happened since then and we're still bringing new fans to the sport every day and TV coverage is now live, every match and every round.

We need to move forward to better serve fans and to do that, we are launching a fundraising campaign. Our goal is to ultimately raise US$20,000 over the next 2 or so years. We'll start modestly with enough to get the effort underway, just US$3,000 before the end of this AFL season (but it would even better if we raise more! Donate button to the right!). Here's what we plan to do with that money (front page readers click on Read More):

Adam Simpson Era Ends in Perth

Adam Simpson (file photo/AFANA)

After another huge loss in Round 17, West Coast and senior coach Adam Simpson came to a "mutual agreement" to part ways. Simpson, 48, was contracted until the end of 2025. He has been with the club for the past 11 years. Reportedly he met with the club chairman (Paul Fitzpatrick and asked if he had any chance of continuing past the end of the season, and was told that would not happen, so he chose to resign now. It's unclear if he will coach in Round 18. He is only the sixth coach in the club's 37 year history and was the third to take the team to a premiership in 2018, along with Mick Malthouse (1992 and 1994) and John Worsfold (2006). He began his head coaching career at the club in 2014 and took them to a Grand Final in 2015 (a loss to Hawthorn) but reached the pinnacle three years later. Although the team made it to the finals in five other seasons, the club has been on decline for the past few years with the team winning just eight games since the start of 2022. Simpson played for North Melbourne and was a member of the club's 1996 and 1999 premiership teams. His record with the Eagles is 122 wins, 119 losses, and one draw.

Close and Cameron Kick Four Each as Cats Crush Hawks

Hawks and Cats (Kim Densham/AFANA)

Hawthorn came to Kardinia Park today having won their last five matches. However, with injuries to key players in Sicily, Ginnivan, and Dear last week, they were left looking vulnerable going into today's match on Geelong's home turf.  The Cats, by contrast, lost Knevitt to illness, and had omitted Irishman Mark O'Connor for today's match. Hawthorn won the toss and elected to kick to the Players Stand. Today the clubs were using the yellow Sherrin ball (typically used at night under lights) on a gloomy afternoon at Kardinia Park. Tt looked like Geelong had plenty of practice on this ground under lights. From the first bounce the match could have been mistaken for a training drill, as Dangerfield ran it out of the centre and hit Cameron on a lead in the pocket. His shot though was off target for a minor score though.

Dangerfiled had another chance a minute later from the top of the 50 meter arc as Hawthorn failed to clear but the result was the same. Another minute on and another miss from Cameron as he marked and played on in the pocket. Next man up was Neale,

Classy Dockers Tame Tigers

Josh Treacy (file photo/AFANA)

On a cold, wet, and blustery night with winds gusting up to forty-four miles per hour, the Fremantle Dockers showed their class to defeat the desperate Richmond Tigers. The win enabled the Dockers to maintain third position on the ladder and edge closer to the top two teams Sydney and Carlton. The loss consigned Richmond to the bottom of the ladder, but they didn't go down without a fight. The omens weren't good for the Tigers when their team banner was shredded by the wind before they could run through it to enter the field. Undeterred, they started the game brightly with early goals to Shai Bolton and Toby Nankervis. The Tigers' defense withstood early Docker attacks through stong marking (catching) or spoiling Docker attempts to mark. Defenders Nathan Broad and Ben Miller did well early for the Tigers, but second-gamer Jacob Blight was out of his depth on Josh Treacy.

Hawks Hammer Indifferent Eagles

Hawks cheersquad (file photo/AFANA)

The Hawthorn Hawks won a rare interstate victory against the West Coast Eagles to elevate themselves to a group of five teams who sit half a game out of the top eight. In a remarkable transformation, the Hawks are the only team along with Carlton to have won their last five games. Today's victory was also significant as the Hawks have not won on the road since early last year. Their victory was based on winning clearances, moving the ball out of packs, maintaining forward pressure, and controlling the tempo of the game. West Coast entered the match with one their strongest lists for some time but were outplayed in most areas of the game and appeared to lack desperation and a willingness to run and compete. The loss will raise more questions on whether coach Adam Simpson is the best man to rebuild the team.
