AFL Weekly Preview Round Two 2007
AFL SEASON 2007
PREVIEW ROUND 2
Hands up all those who thought I was kidding about just how hard it is to pick the winners in the first round. Yep, thought so. Most of you it seems and that was reflected by your lousy scores. Those that picked 5 or more know little about AFL footy or form and therefore should do well for the rest of the year in their tipping.
There were a couple of upsets such as the Bombers clubbing Adelaide in front of 45000 disbelieving Crows supporters and Port Adelaide leaving the Docker faithful in a purple haze after half time. Blues supporters shouldn’t get too excited as they were only playing Richmond and Collingwood
Round One Tribunal Results
Charges Laid:
Jess Sinclair (KANG), rough conduct against Magpie Ryan Lonie: negligent conduct (one point), medium impact (two points), and high contact (two points), equaling five points, a Level Two Offense, 225 demerits, and a two game suspension. He has no applicable good or bad record so an plea would reduce the penalty 25% to 168.75 demerits and a one game suspension.
Sinclair took his case to the Tribunal.

AFL Round 1

Graaab yoooouuurrr
Coat and your rug
And your thermos and mug
Let it rain, let it shine
Tho’ your team’s far behind
Because it’s football season
And that’s the reason
It’s the time of the year that we lurrrvve.
Yes, we’re back. Eventually. The arrogant brinkmen at the TV networks finally worked out their issues a month ago and Foxtel secured the rights to even more footy than before! A great deal for me and other Foxtel subscribers. Not so good if you’re one of the 70% of TV viewers who don’t have cable. The AFL haven’t looked after you at all, especially if you live in Perth or Adelaide. So we’re off in a brand new season, one new rule which makes it illegal to place your hands, in any way, on the back of an opponent. The idea was to promote contested marks but as the rule allows shoving or ‘position holding’ with hips, elbows, shoulders or even clenched fists, it may not be very successful. Leo Barry thinks it’s targeted at him.
AFL List Changes 2007
by Tim Murphy
Adelaide
Off:
Matthew Clarke - retired, then un-retired and pre-season drafted by St. Kilda
Ben Hart - delisted
Hayden Skipworth - delisted
Alan Obst - delisted
Chad Gibson - delisted
On:
James Sellar (Glenelg, draft pick 14). Minimal list changes for the Camrys, whose window is open at five to midnight, or something. Hart’s delisting came a shock, though. Anyway, Sellar is a big lad with huge leap. Played as both a ruckman and a key forward. Won the award for best player in the 2005 National U16 Champs, played 8 senior games for Glenelg last year.
