The following is the time line for the the Grand Final day events including key times for match and TV related activities. All times are listed first in Australian AEST and then in US EDT. This is based on information from the AFL, AFANA, press reports and past history. This story will be periodically updated with late information. (Revised 9/25/14)

AFL Hall Of Fame

Just ahead of Round 12, the AFL held the annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Five of the inductees are from the modern era: Brad Johnson, Anthony Koutoufides, Warren Tredrea, Andrew McLeod, and Matthew Richardson. The sixth was the late Ern Henfry who was represented by his son. All of the inductees were team captains during their careers.

Western Bulldogs Hall of Fame

The Western Bulldogs held their season launch on March 12. At that time they also announced a new Club Legend and the latest inductees to their Hall of Fame. Favorite son Doug Hawkins became the fourth Club Legend while past players John Jillard, Brad Johnson and Rohan Smith were announced as the newest members. Hawkins, who was inducted in 2010, joins Premiership captain Charlie Sutton, E.J. Whitten and John Schultz.

Coach Roos Joins Elite

Round 16 will see Sydney Coach Paul Roos notch 550 games as a player and coach. This includes 269 games as a player for the Fitzroy Lions 1982-1994, 87 games as a player for the Sydney Swans and 193 games as coach of the Sydney Swans.

Bulldogs Outclass Struggling Eagles

Following a devastating Round 12 loss to bottom team Richmond, the West Coast Eagles’ players and coaching staff attracted heavy home town scrutiny. John Worsfold’s future was openly debated and senior players spoke publicly of their disappointing recent performances. Sunday’s Round 13 match against the Western Bulldogs needed to be a do or die effort to regain the respect of fans and to inject new belief into the players.

Bulldogs Stomp on Tiger’s Tail

Hopes were high that after last week’s spirited performance against Geelong, Richmond could break their winless streak and take the game up to an in-form Western Bulldogs. However there were ominous signs when Richmond players failed to break through the supporters’ club banner when running onto the ground.
