It was only a few weeks ago that Geelong's Matthew Stokes was reinstated to the senior list after a club imposed suspension for his drugs violation. Now Fremantle's Michael Johnson finds himself in a similar predicament. Caught in a police raid and charged with possession of cocaine, he will face court in July.
Geelong's Matthew Stokes appeared in court on April 26 to face charges of drug possession and trafficking. He and his lawyers worked out a plea bargain in which Stokes pleaded guilty to one count of possession in exchange for having the trafficking charge dropped. Had he been convicted, he could have faced time in prison, which would have virtually ended his footy career.
Footy Stars In Vietnam
Former Collingwood captain and current assistant coach Nathan Buckley and former Essendon player Gary O'Donnell have visited the Vietnam Swans in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon). Buckley and O'Donnell held clinics for not only the team but a number of other kids, including Australians living in Vietnam.
