Just days after the conclusion of Round Eight, Tiger Shaun Grigg announced his immediate retirement. Grigg, a member of the 2017 premiership side, has been struggling with knee and hip injuries this year and had yet to play a senior game. Grigg said he had a "horrible preseason" and knew he would be unable to get himself right to play. Drugs And Gambling Hit Collingwood

Just one week ago, young Bulldog Lachie Hunter was cleared of any gambling wrongdoing after he and the club self-reported a bet placed on his account which involved the NAB Challenge game between the Bulldogs and Melbourne. In that case, investigators were told by Hunter that the bet was placed by a player from VFL club Footscray. It is still unclear how that person had Hunter's account details and the VFL is investigating.

Neil Balme Rejoins Collingwood

The  Magpies have lured Neil Balme back to the club as their new Director of Football to replace Rodney Eade, now coaching Gold Coast. Balme has spent the past eight years as General Manager at Geelong.  He previously worked at Collingwood as General Manager 2002-2006 before crossing to the Cats.
