The AFL would have been hoping for a close, exciting match to display the best of the game to their new Chinese audience.  Unfortunately their worst fears were realized when the Gold Coast Suns appeared to not be up for the fight.  Port Adelaide dominated the match from start to finish, running out 72 point winners in the historic clash in Shanghai.

AFL GF logo 20139/26/13: Attn Fans and Party Hosts: Please read our late breaking note on coverage times here. Schedules have changed drastically! As of 9/22/2013, the Grand Final is live in the USA on Fox Soccer Plus (pre-game begins at 9:00 PM Sept. 27th US EDT, game coverage at 11:00 PM US EDT 12:30 AM US EDT 9/28 through 3:30 AM EDT post game ending at 4:00 AM). AFL-TV will also have live internet coverage. The only US coverage is on FSP or AFL-TV. AFANA will post this and any updates on our TV pages (TV schedules). For Canadian fans, as of 9/20/2013, TSN2 coverage has confirmed live coverage beginning at 11:00 PM EDT and continuing until 4:00 AM.

As of 8/31/2010, the Grand Final is live in the USA on ESPN Classic from 11:30 PM EDT Sept. 24th through to 4:00 AM.  ESPN2 will pick up coverage live and in progress at 1:00 AM EDT (approx. at start of 2nd quarter).  ESPN3.com and Omnisport.tv also have live coverage and ESPN3 will have the same coverage as "Classic". AFANA will post this and any updates on our TV pages (TV schedules).  The Canadian coverage on TSN2 is live and continues until 3:30 AM EDT.

International Recruiting Boom

Essendon already had one player from Papua New Guinea on an international scholarship, 17-year old David Meli, who is playing the juniors' TAC competition. Now it is three with the club offering two more international scholarships to Victor Lame and Max Lavai, both 15 years old. The pair spent a week in Melbourne in early May, touring the city, meeting Essendon's senior players and visiting the club's facilities.
