Brownlow Medalist Michael Voss and Simon Black are amongst a group of four past and current AFL players charged by Victorian police following a brawl at a Melbourne hotel last year.
Retired former Brisbane captain Voss has been charged with unlawful assault, while current Brisbane co-captain Black has been charged with recklessly causing injury.
St. Kilda players Fraser Gehrig and Steven Lawrence have also been charged with assault following the altercation that occurred on Grand Final eve last year.
A statement released by lawyers for Voss and Black indicated they were disappointed with the decision to charge them.
“They emphatically deny the allegations and look forward to the opportunity of defending themselves before the court,” the statement read.
All will appear in court on August 7.
