850 games as player and coach: Mick Malthouse (Carlton) will participate in his 850th official match as a coach and a player, comprising 174 games as a player for St Kilda and Richmond and 675 games as a coach for Footscray, West Coast, Collingwood and Carlton. He is just the third man in the game's history to reach the mark.

Ahead of him is Jock McHale (878 games comprising 261 games as a player and playing coach and a further 617 games as non-playing coach). Behind Mick are Leigh Matthews (793 games, 332 as a player, 461 as a coach), David Parkin (729 games, 211 games as a player, 518 as a coach), Ron Barassi (719 games, 254 as a player and playing coach, 465 as as non-playing coach), Norm Smith (659 games 227 as a player, 432 as a coach), Allan Jeans (652 games, 77 as a player, 575 as a coach), Robert Walls (606 games, 259 as a player, 347 as a coach), Tom Hafey (589 games, 67 as a player, 522 games as a coach).

400 combined games father and son: John and Marc Murphy: Marc Murphy will play his 154th senior game for Carlton in Round 12. His father played John played 246 games for Fitzroy, South Melbourne and North Melbourne. They will become the 14th father/single son pair in the game’s history to reach this mark. Club Record Games: Kane Cornes (PA) will play his 256th game in Round 12, breaking the club's games record set by Warren Tredrea. Behind Cornes and Tredrea are Peter Burgoyne (240 games, 1997-2009), Chad Cornes (239 games, 1999-2011) and Brendon Lade (234 games, 1997-2009).

Oldest Coaches: Mick Malthouse (CARL) will be 59 years and 301 days old when coaches in Round 12. This makes him the sixth oldest man in VFL/AFL history to coach a senior game. The oldest coaches in the game’s history at the date of their last game are Checker Hughes (71 years, 148 days in 1965), Jock McHale (66 years, 266 days in 1949), Kevin Sheedy (65 years, 174 days at Round 12, 2013), John Kennedy (60 years, 246 days in 1989) and Jack Worrall (60 years, 40 days in 1920). Behind Malthouse are Denis Pagan (59 years, 301 days in 2007), George Sparrow (59 years, 291 days in 1929), Ron Barassi (59 years, 188 days in 1995) and Allan Jeans (58 years, 341 days in 1992).
