Daniel Motlop tries to evade a Western Bulldogs tackle. Motlop who had kicked a bundle of goals in his last two outings for Port, was held to just a point on Saturday night. It was a shame for his family and friends, who had come out to see him make his return to his home town, that they didn't get to see him kick a goal.

The Western Bulldogs showed why they are the real deal, when they systematically demolished Port Power at TIO stadium in Darwin on Saturday night. In what at times was a scrappy affair the Bulldogs had more run and far to many ball winners for the Power.

With players such as Griffen, Cooney, Hargrave, and Eagleton picking up possessions at will, and Jason Akermanis starring in the forward line the Port Power players could only hope that the game didn't go for any longer than it needed to.

Jason Akermanis after a near best on ground performance excited the large crowd with his not to often seen hand stand. Akermanis who was banned from doing the feat at the start of this year for club unity reasons, was egged on by the crowd to perform it for the first time. It will yet to be seen if he cops any criticism from the playing group after this, as concerns were heard to be raised by some of the players as they left the ground. But still the large crowd appreciated his efforts during and after the game.
Western Bulldogs players sing their club song after their big win over Port Power. The Bulldogs showed great skill, speed and superior fitness in dismantling the hapless Power on Saturday night. With Akermanis and Johnson controlling the forward line, and having eleven different players kicking goals, they proved they will be hard to beat when the finals come around in September.
