Scott Lockhart reporting for AFANA from Melbourne.
Brendan Fevola will remain with Carlton for at least another three years after signing a new multi-million dollar deal that will see him become one of the games highest paid players.
The surprise announcement comes just a week after Carlton decided to hold off on contract talks with its star forward until the end of the season.
Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper reported that Fevola, 27, will be paid almost $750,000 a season, taking him into the elite of the competition with only six players on higher salaries.
At a news conference on Thursday Fevola said his heart was always with the Blues.
"I was never going to leave Carlton. Carlton has been my home for ten years. It's like a family here," he said.
The Herald Sun also reported that there were no specific clauses within the contract to ensure satisfactory behavior from Fevola, despite numerous off-field incidents that threatened his future at the club in the recent past.
